Those universities seeking to become global brands seem to be focusing increasingly on opening new campuses in Asia. China now has 17 with Singapore 18, with India, the Gulf states, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and South Korea also benefitting significantly. There are plans to develop a further 37 such new international partnership campuses in the next two years.
Partner universities seeking to globalise in such a way are from the US, with strong reprersentation also from the UK (Britain) and France. A growing trend is co-development with universities partnering others within their home region. India is perhaps the largest developer and partner of these ‘South to south’ campuses.
